Kazakhstan Women's Boxing Team Dominates 2024 Asian Championships in Thailand

Kazakhstan’s women’s boxing team delivered a powerful performance at the 2024 ASBC Asian Elite Women Boxing Championships, claiming the top spot on the medal table with five gold medals.

The tournament, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, saw some of the best female boxers from across Asia compete in thrilling battles.

Eldana Talipova (+81kg) was the final Kazakh athlete to step into the ring. Facing Oltinoy Sotimboeva of Uzbekistan, Talipova secured a gold medal after dominating all three rounds. Her victory added to Kazakhstan’s remarkable haul.

Aida Abikeyeva (-63kg) contributed another gold for her country by defeating Ha Thi Linh of Vietnam by unanimous decision.

Natalya Bogdanova (-70kg) delivered Kazakhstan’s third gold by overcoming Thai contender Baison Manikon in an intense fight. Meanwhile, Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60kg) and Gulssaya Yerzhan (81kg) also claimed gold, solidifying Kazakhstan’s dominance at the event.

Five other Kazakh athletes earned bronze medals in their respective weight categories: Aigerim Sattybayeva (48kg), Zhazira Orakbayeva (52kg), Ulzhan Sarsenbek (57kg), Milana Safronova (66kg), and Diana Magauiyayeva (75kg).

Uzbekistan secured second place in the medal standings with three gold, four silver, and two bronze medals. Thailand, the host nation, put up a strong fight, winning three golds, one silver, and two bronzes.

The championships, which began on November 28th and will run till December 12th, have been a celebration of talent and resilience. Featuring both men’s and women’s competitions, the event has transformed Chiang Mai into the center of Asian boxing.
