The entry of Mamagama band for Azerbaijan at the Eurovision 2025 international song contest in Basel, Switzerland has been announced.
The Public Television of Azerbaijan, an official broadcaster of the show, has introduced the song titled “Run with you” authored by the band’s soloist Asaf Mishiyev, aka Saphael Mishi.
Mamagama trio revealed that “Run with you” was one of the five entries they submitted for Azerbaijan’s selection for Eurovision 2025.
Mishiyev explained that he first wrote the lyrics to the song 16 years ago, which inspired him to create a new song for Eurovision performance.
Mamagama has earlier applied to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023.
The band previously consisted of Saphael and Roma Zi (Roman Zilyanev). In 2023, they participated in the 23rd Kenga Magjike festival in Albania and won in the Best New International Artist category.
Certain changes have been made to the band's lineup during the application process for Eurovision with Hasan Heydar’s (KHVS) involvement.
Since making a debut in ESC in 2008, Azerbaijan has been sending singers to Europe’s biggest song competition each year. Over the past years, representatives of the country have repeatedly made it through to the Eurovision finals.
In 2011, El & Nikki duet from Azerbaijan won the contest with their “Running scared” song, bringing the grand show to the country. A year later, the 57th edition of the Eurovision took place at the flamboyant Crystal Hall concert arena at the Caspian Sea promenade in the capital city Baku.
Azerbaijan finished 14th at Eurovision 2024. Last year’s entry was “Take me with you” performed by FAHREE and Ilkin Dovlatov.
