The Mamagama band will represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision 2025 international song contest in Basel, Switzerland.
Azerbaijan’s Public Television, an official Eurovision broadcaster, made the announcement this week.
According to the announcement, the band will represent the country under the slogan "Azerbaijan is ready to shine."
“Get ready for an unforgettable journey. Let’s make magic together,” the band buoyed the audience in a presentation video shared by Public Television.
Mamagama has earlier applied to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023.
The band previously consisted of Safael and Roma Zi (Roman Zilyanev). In 2023, they participated in the 23rd Kenga Magjike festival in Albania and won in the Best New International Artist category.
Certain changes have been made to the band's lineup during the application process for Eurovision.
Since making a debut in ESC in 2008, Azerbaijan has been sending singers to Europe’s biggest song competition each year. Over the past years, representatives of the country have repeatedly made it through to the Eurovision finals.
In 2011, El & Nikki duet from Azerbaijan won the contest with their “Running scared” song, bringing the grand show to the country. A year later, the 57th edition of the Eurovision took place at the flamboyant Crystal Hall concert arena at the Caspian Sea promenade in the capital city Baku.
Azerbaijan finished 14th at Eurovision 2024. Last year’s entry was “Take me with you” performed by FAHREE and Ilkin Dovlatov.
